Syracuse Orange vs Norte Dame Fighting Irish – Preview & Prediction
For the first time this year I’m going outside the BIG 12 conference for my lock of the week in a game that consists of two ranked teams facing off with huge College Football Playoff implications. That game is this Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium between Syracuse and Notre Dame. The Orange are coming in hot, while the Fighting Irish are on the edge of completing a perfect regular season.
The Syracuse Orange are ranked in the Top 25 for the first time in seventeen years. Syracuse has won four in a row and has averaged 77 total points per game during that four week stretch . They have a prolific offense led by their dual threat QB Eric Dungey. Syracuse currently ranks #12 in the nation and a win against Notre Dame this Saturday would propel them into the Top 10!
#3 Notre Dame on the other side is looking to complete a perfect regular season and Syracuse seems to be the only major obstacle in their way. The Fighting Irish have been a balanced team this season, but they have become dominant on offense averaging +39 points per game since Ian Book took over at QB. Book will be ready to play this Saturday at Yankee Stadium after being out last week with a minor upper body injury.
This matchup is the game of the week and I feel pretty confident that there will be a lot of touchdowns on both sides. ND is favored -10 and the over/under sits at 63 points. Syracuse is going to give ND a fight, but I see the value in the total points.
CHUCK’S LOCK: OVER 63 TOTAL POINTS
Prediction: Notre Dame 41 Syracuse 35
[Record Against The Spread: 3-1]
