“I’m coming home, I’m coming home, Tell the world I’m coming home.- Skylar Grey”- Brock Osweiler
Line: Miami Dolphins @ Houston Texans -7.5; O/U 44
You’d think a Thursday night game between the Dolphins and Texans would be short of intrigue, but not so fast my friend! Do you hear that deafening noise? I can hear it all the way out here in Chicago. That noise is the Brocketship landing back in Houston for a showdown with the team that exiled him. The team that traded a second round pick just to get rid of him! I am quite excited to see what kind of reaction Osweiler will receive when he first takes the field. I cannot imagine it’ll be a warm welcome considering he didn’t really “live up” to the $72 million contract he was given by the Texans. We know Jadeveon Clowney isn’t a fan. I would also love to be inside of Bill O’Brien’s head to get his real thoughts on Osweiler. He’s said all the right things in the media this week but you’d have to imagine if the Brocketship ends up near the Texans sideline, O’Brien will have to restrain himself from delivering a Ron Artest-esque elbow to Osweiler. As for the game, let’s look at some notes and trends:
- Texans are 0-5 ATS their last five at home; 2-8 ATS last 10 home games when favored by 7 or more
- Dolphins are 1-7 ATS their last eight on the road
- Miami’s defense has given up 31 PPG over their last four games
- Albert Wilson and Kenny Stills are both out
7.5 may be a daunting number to lay with a Texans team that hasn’t looked sharp in the midst of a four game winning streak, but I love them in this spot. Miami is missing its two top receivers which does not bode well for the Brocketship. Watt and Clowney will be causing havoc all night against a weak Dolphin’s offensive line and force Osweiler into throwing a few interceptions. The Texans offense will have no issues moving the ball on a Miami defense that has been getting torched the last month. I expect the Texans to win easily and cruise to their fifth straight win.
What I’m really looking forward to is the post-game interaction between Brock and O’Brien. Will they look into each other’s eyes and both gently whisper, “I’ve missed you.” Will it turn into Rondo-CP3 part two where everyone is breaking down the tape to see whether O’Brien spit into Brock’s face? I don’t know what to expect but I’m here for all of it.
Prediction: Texans 24 Dolphins 10
P.S: As discussed on this week’s pick em’ pod, I LOVE the Texans in any and all teasers this week.
